Greetings family folks!

Hope everyone is doing fine and having a great summer. As for me, well, I guess all have already heard about my visit from the Maxey coronary artery disease fairies. Sunday morning May 28th, 4:am I awoke with tremendous chest pain. It was as though a ton of bricks had been placed upon my chest. A quick trip to the Emergency Room and a few tests later I was informed I'd had a heart attack and was soon to be taken to the "cath" lab. Before I knew it and within a matter of a couple of hours I had two stints installed in my heart and was recovering in the ICU. One artery was blocked on both ends and stints placed, another was 100% blocked and had bypassed itself and another was 50% blocked and I was told a life change of diet, exercise, medication and rehabilitation would help. I experienced a similar pain about four years ago but after a trip to the ER and then the cardiologist the next morning found no problems... ask me and I will tell you now, it had been a heart attack too. It just goes to show you that even that one could be missed, and had I known then what I know now, this last one could have been avoided. Given this last experience of mine, big brother Robert Hoss's a few years ago, cousin David's recent problems and the last generation of Maxey's heart attacks and death should convince the rest of you carrying this nasty Maxey gene to get checked out just for grins. Sandy and I are both four days smoke free and would suggest any of you still smoking might think about giving that up too, besides, another dollar cigarette tax soon should scare us all. When ever I crave a smoke, all I have to do is look at the huge bruise on my groin from the catheter, (big and ugly).

As far as I can tell, the diet is not all that bad either, we have both been eating well with the recipes supplied from little sister Kit.

Biggest thing we have stopped eating is all the fried and fast food we were accustomed to at lunch. Love to you all and take care!

Colin, Sandy and Jasper.
